Did a simple W+H skills with my class to use in Comprehension Open Ended. Before that, got them to do a quick hands on.
Different text types were given to them so they can do an oral presentation and share with one another what they had done.
After completing their work, they went up to present their ideas and showcase their work.
Fantastic work from my p4s, yay! I really love the differentiated work done once again. They took turns to present their work and they really put in their effort.
After the experiential learning, they were off to do a structure passage close to exam standard. Again, I got them to pull out the info and drop them into the W+H template again. They did not fail me. Check out their work!
One of the reasons for doing so is, many students tend to complete this section in double quick time and they are contented with just passing the section. I encourage my students to think beyond just aiming a pass. If they can score higher, why not? This habit must be ingrained so they will naturally score high when PSLE comes. Thus, my insistence. There are many ways to tackle compre open ended and this is just one of them.
