SBC ORAL
I believe many students are faced with the same difficulties tackling the Stimulus Based Conversation (SBC). Lack of practice, lack of ideas, and lack of 'what to say', are echoed by many of my parents and students alike. I am not going to lie that SBC is easy to score, but it IS possible to breeze through this section.
The screenshots attached below are from two of my current Primary 6 students, each from a different school. With the skills taught, and a slight shift in the angle of conversation, I let their marks do the talking.
With the Covid situation and the move to shift lessons online, I am not holding any physical classes over the June holidays, which I normally will do. Thus, I am coming up with a 10 week SBC course online instead.
Module Outline:
In this module, I will be touching on the P.E.G framework, and how each letter helps your children gain more confidence and momentum.
2) I will cover at least 2 different SBC topics (compiled from previous years' prelim and actual PSLE questions). Below is a sample of a Teacher's Copy.
Interest To Register:
As SBC Oral is very interactive and hands on, with maximum engagement with my students, I am keeping this course to a maximum of 10 participants only. This ensures there is sufficient time to have a 'round robin' discussion, space for each student to absorb and apply what they have learnt, and ample 'air time' for the participants to engage with me. In this case for my objective, it is "Practice Makes Perfect"!

As this course is specially designed for students who are really focused and motivated to learn more about SBC, and want to have a breakthrough in their scores, please consider the above dates, and ensure your child is able to attend ALL sessions before signing up. There will be no make up classes, and no refund of lessons. Recorded videos are subjective to changes, due to the PDDA law. Even if recorded videos are released, they will not be the full duration in case there are any sensitive remarks or unnecessary comments made by the participants. I will make the final decision and discretion. In any case your child is unwell or unable to attend, I may make exceptions to correspond via short calls, email or WhatsApp messages. More details will be added later.

Course Materials & Instructions:
There are two ways to obtain my teaching materials.
Number 1: Google drive
A shared Google folder link will be sent to you once payment is confirmed.
Download the materials in the folder (students handouts labelled according to the lessons).
Print them out to prepare for your children.
For checking of your children's answers, please assist to upload in the shared folder and I will mark accordingly.
A sample guide will be uploaded in the shared Google folder after every lesson. This is to expedite your children's learning progress.
Please allow up to 3 working days (unless otherwise stated) for the marking of worksheets and sample guide uploads.
OR
Number 2: WhatsApp Chat
A broadcast list will be created, NOT a chat group for PDDA reasons.
PDF files will be then be dropped directly to your personal mobile number via broadcast.
Print them out to prepare for your children.
For checking of your children's answers, please assist to take snap shots and PDF the files to me, and I will mark accordingly. The files will then be sent back to you personal mobile, and not via the broadcast.
A sample guide will be sent in the broadcast list after every lesson. This is to expedite your children's learning progress.

I will decide and confirm the platform to use once the workshop registration is closed.
For the first lesson, there is no need to do any work, but encourage your children to read through the materials to get ready. From the second lesson onwards, I will require your children to prepare the questions inside my handouts, so discussions can be swift and prompt. As this is an interactive course, students are expected to prepare their work before lesson commences.

As a final note, all my teaching materials in this course are subjected to copyright and strictly limited to use for this SBC Oral workshop only. My current students do not have these materials at all, so I hope you are able to respect this by not sharing the materials around. Please also note that the course fees include only the handouts, and not the suggested guides. The suggested guides are part of the course when students go through the lessons with me.
