Playing is learning, as we at Sowing Seedz believe in. Life as a student in Singapore is stressed enough, and we aim to achieve a balance in their learning. P1-2 English / 12 Feb 2019 Tuesday / Craft Bag Writing

It was great to be back at lesson, as chirped brightly by one of our boys. It was heartening to hear something so positive! And he nailed it. Learning should be fun in a non-threatening environment, and we are glad to provide a sanctuary for that. For the lesson, we did the usual lesson story procedures, craft and spinning their own stories. Great lesson!

P5 Science / 12 Feb 2019 Tuesday /Plant Reproduction

New topic after the Chinese New Year break. We moved on to Plant Reproduction, a topic that is relatively easy to understand, but need proper lesson notes to allow our students to understand the concepts. We went slow and gave alot of notes for them to jot down, followed by a simple investigative task work. Our students never fail to amaze us with their beautiful artwork.

P3-P4 Science / 31 Jan 2019 Thursday / Energy – Light

Another new topic for our P3-P4 Science class – Light. After the usual lesson notes, they got right down to apply what they had learnt. They had to form a short story with the puppet characters chosen, and they were able to come up with a simple yet interesting story! Never under estimate any child’s ability to be creative. Give them some space and they will exceed your expectations! Watch out for the next lesson where they will perform their shadow puppets!

Forces, a new topic introduced to our students. Hands on are the best way to learn and engage their memory work. After going through some notes on Forces, they were eager to start on their hands on. Snip, fold, paste and write! By engaging in hands on, the boys were able to think and link what they see to how they remember. Part 2 going on the next lesson!

P3-P4 Science / 7 Feb 2019 Thursday / Heat & Temperature

The lesson saw our students exploring heat gain and heat loss via a mercury thermometer. We taught them what parallax error is and how to read the readings off a thermometer accurately. They got to see for themselves what happened to the readings when the thermometer is dipped into hot water and iced water. They were intrigued to observe that mercury expands when heated and contracts when cooled in different temperatures. After observation, they got down to complete their investigative task work and wrote down their reflections.
