For our P6 English class, we did a round of Comprehension Open Ended skills with them. Frankly, we can come up with many fanciful names, techniques and skills, which most school teachers are also teaching. However, we believe that what sets a student apart to master the art of answering, is his/her attitude, how much this student wants to achieve. It takes time to learn the craft.
Back to our lesson, we came up with a simple T.A.S.E.R comprehension open-ended strategy for our class. We focused on S – summarizing the paragraphs to aid our students to answer the questions more effectively. We covered this first as this is always not our students’ favourite. They loathe to write out, truth to be told, hence, we need to find creative ways to make them willing to do it, which they did! Check out their work. Still raw, but promising!
