Today’s lesson wasn’t planned, again. I had in mind to complete some work on Water cycles and cells, but SY told me her school started on Human Reproduction. I was a little taken aback, as cells was not even taught in details, as much as I wanted to. As teachers, we are trained to be… Continue reading 2018 – Reproduction (p5)

2018 – A Lesson Of Balloon & Writing Fun!
Healthy competition is good to motivate each other to be on their toes to learn. Challenged both of them to see who can build up on the concept map better. They delivered not one but two maps! And the work was great. They transferred their work from the board to their books. Simple activities like… Continue reading 2018 – A Lesson Of Balloon & Writing Fun!
2018 – Yeast Is Risen!
Managed to pull some materials found at home for this. Whew! I bake bread occasionally, but the yeast was expired. Hoping it still worked, which it did. Sugar and warm water. Checked. Bottles. Checked. Balloons. Checked. Timer. Checked. Ready to go! Warm water poured carefully via the funnel. Glad I got this useful tool. No… Continue reading 2018 – Yeast Is Risen!
2018 – Show & Tell (p5 sci) – cells, water cycle
Lesson is not just on experiments and fun. I do make sure when it comes to work, 100% is required. Mood was serious as I gave them a short quiz. Checking their answers and doing corrections on the spot. I like to give a thorough coverage of topics so I don’t need to keep revisiting… Continue reading 2018 – Show & Tell (p5 sci) – cells, water cycle
Cycles, Cells (p5)
One lesson, 2 different topics. 2 girls are learning water cycles, one girl learning cells. It’s quite common for schools to mix and match the topics to start. It’s not a real issue to me, as I am able to manage toggling between 2 topics. That’s the max for me as well. Watching and laughing… Continue reading Cycles, Cells (p5)
Lessons With Tech (p5)
It’s worth the investment to get that flat screen up for my teaching. No, I did not buy on purpose, it’s a spare that I got it years back. I almost wanted to give that away. Glad I did not. We started straight on the topic that their school is teaching, and of course, one… Continue reading Lessons With Tech (p5)
Electric Charged!
My p5 boy had fun dabbling with the electric circuits and it was great to see him applying what he has learnt into practice. Whole lesson was on toggling the permutations and combinations of parallel and series arrangements… and more! Highlight was the spinning fan blade!
Still Into CellsĀ
This was a follow up on the cells I did with my p5 boy. After observing the cell via a microscope, I get my boy to sketch what he saw, according to the different magnification. Very impressive work, I must say. I gave him some time to play around with the slides and it was… Continue reading Still Into CellsĀ
Cells
Cool blue, like a moon. Managed to capture a clear shot of an onion cell with my trusty microscope. Made my student sketch what he observed. Lovely catch of the day.
